Turkish Hackers Deface Russian Bank Website

Turkish hackers target Russian banking website, mock the Russian SU-24 jet incident.

A group of Turkish hackers going by the online handle WKPF hacked and defaced the official website of Russia’s Joint-Stock Commercial Bank for Reconstruction and Development “Ekonombank.”

The site was targeted last Monday in which the homepage was replaced with messages against Russia and last month’s incident in which the Turkish air force shot down Russian fighter jet near the Turkish-Syrian border.

Here is a full preview of the deface page uploaded by the hackers:

In an exclusive conversation with one of the hackers, HackRead was told that,

“Hacker going with the handles of Whiteweasel, Krypton, the pahtron and Fresh condcuted the attack.”

The targeted bank site is offline since the defacement and redirects customers to the online banking login page with the following message:

“Currently, the site conducted www.econombank.ru technical work. We apologize.”

Earlier this week, another pro-Turkish group hacked the official website of the Russian embassy in Israel with Turkish flags.

Turkey and Russia’s relationship has already soured after Turkey shot down a Russian SU-24 jet, which was performing airstrikes in northern Syria. Turkish authorities claimed that the Russian jet had violated Turkish airspace.

Russia, however, quickly denied the accusation and blamed Turkey for attempting to cover up its links with the cross-border militant group so-called Islamic State (ISIS/Daesh).
